Claire Eastgate is an established portrait painter with over 15 years experience creating projects and working on commissions for private clients, collectors and institutions. Noted subjects are Her Majesty the Queen, commissioned by the Kennel Club 2014 and the Poet Laureate, Dame Carol Ann Duffy. In 2017 her double portrait of Carol Ann Duffy and former National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke exhibited at the the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Award. She is currently working on ‘Painting the Poets’ a collection of painted portraits celebrating the lives and work of some of the UK’s finest contemporary female poets, one of which has been acquired for the permanent collection at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (2019).

In her spare time Eastgate paints landscapes inspired by her local surroundings and travels. She also runs regular workshops in portraiture and lives and works between London and Shropshire.
