Claire Eastgate is an established portrait painter with over 15 years experience creating projects and working on commissions for private clients, collectors and institutions. Noted subjects are Her Majesty the Queen, commissioned by the Kennel Club 2014 and the Poet Laureate, Dame Carol Ann Duffy. In 2017 her double portrait of Carol Ann Duffy and former National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke exhibited at the the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Award. She is now working on ‘Painting the Poets’ an exhibition of 28 contemporary female poets, including rising stars Helen Mort, Momtaza Merhi and Mona Arshi to international poet/rap star Kate Tempest and the laureates Carol Ann Duffy, Makar, Jackie Kay and Gillian Clarke.

In her spare time Eastgate paints landscapes inspired by her local surroundings and travels. She also runs regular workshops in portraiture and lives and works between London and Shropshire.
